The Google Ads cost Mississauga businesses pay is not one number. It depends on how many customers you want, how often a click turns into an enquiry, and what each click costs in your industry. This guide to PPC cost in Mississauga shows how Google charges you, how to work out a Google Ads budget for a small business with your own numbers, and what to ask an agency before you sign. It is written for Mississauga clinics, trades, shops and offices deciding whether paid search is worth trying.

How Much Should a Small Business Spend on Google Ads?

Start from the number of leads you want, not a fixed budget. Divide your lead goal by your conversion rate to get the clicks you need, multiply by the cost per click from Google Keyword Planner, then add any agency fee. Google bills only when someone clicks, so a clear lead goal sets a sensible monthly budget.

What You Pay For When You Run Google Ads

A Google Ads bill is only one part of the total cost. Most businesses end up paying for three things.

CostWhat it isWho you pay
Ad spendThe clicks on your ads, billed to your Google Ads accountGoogle
ManagementSetting up, running and improving the account, if you hire helpYour agency or freelancer
Everything elseA landing page that converts, call and form tracking, and time to answer new enquiriesYour website team and your own staff

Ask for the first two numbers separately and in writing. If you want to see how we show costs for our own services, visit our pricing page or read the Google Ads management service in Mississauga.

How Google Ads Charges You

Google explains that with cost-per-click bidding you pay only when someone actually clicks on your ad and comes to your site. Showing the ad costs nothing on its own. Three rules about budgets are worth knowing before you set one:

Cost Per Click, Cost Per Lead and Monthly Budget Explained

TermMeaningWhere the number comes from
Cost per click (CPC)What you pay each time someone clicks your adGoogle Keyword Planner before you start, your Google Ads account once you run
Conversion rateThe share of clicks that become a call, form or bookingYour own tracking. Do not borrow another business’s rate
Cost per lead (CPL)Ad spend divided by the number of leads. Also equal to CPC divided by conversion rateYour account after a few weeks of data
Monthly budgetThe most you plan to spend on clicks in a month. Your daily budget is about this number divided by 30.4Your lead goal, worked out as in the next section

Any range you read online, including on this page, is a starting point for a conversation and not a promise. The numbers that matter are the ones from Keyword Planner for your keywords and, later, from your own account. We do not quote a Mississauga price per click here because we would be guessing.

A Worked Example: From Lead Goal to Monthly Budget

The figures below are example numbers to show the maths. They are not Mississauga benchmarks. Replace them with your own Keyword Planner and tracking data.

Assume you want 10 leads a month and about 1 in 20 clicks (5%) turns into an enquiry. That means you need 200 clicks. The only thing that changes the budget is what each click costs.

Example cost per clickClicks needed for 10 leadsMonthly ad spendAbout per dayCost per lead
$4200$800$26$80
$8200$1,600$53$160
$16200$3,200$105$320

Two things stand out. Doubling the cost per click doubles the budget for the same number of leads, and a better conversion rate lowers your cost per lead without touching the bid. If the cost per lead is higher than what a new customer is worth to you, adjust the offer, the page or the target before you add budget.

Why Google Ads Costs Differ So Much by Industry

Costs per click depend on how many advertisers want the same searches and how valuable a customer is. A Toronto agency, QliqQliq, published a 2026 study of Canadian Google Ads costs built from Keyword Planner top-of-page bid data. It reported averages of $33.81 for insurance, $29.06 for financial services and $26.39 for legal services, against $3.42 for beauty and aesthetics and $3.33 for event and party services.

Treat these as a sign of how wide the spread is, not as your price. They come from one agency’s press release, they measure top-of-page bids and not what advertisers actually paid, and they cover Canada as a whole. A dental clinic in Erin Mills and a plumber in Malton will see different numbers again.

How to Find Your Own Cost Per Click in Keyword Planner

Google Keyword Planner is free inside a Google Ads account, and it is the source we use before a client spends anything.

  1. Create or open a Google Ads account.
  2. Open Keyword Planner and enter the services you sell, such as “emergency plumber Mississauga”.
  3. Set the location to Mississauga or the wider area you serve.
  4. Read the forecast for clicks, impressions and cost, and compare similar keywords one at a time.

Know its limits. Google describes the forecast as approximations of the clicks and impressions you might receive each day, averaged from a week of data, and says results can be less accurate if you target a small geographic location. Use it to set a range, then let your own account data replace it.

How to Set a First Google Ads Budget

  1. Put a value on one customer. Know what a new patient, job or order is worth to you.
  2. Set a lead goal. Pick a number you could realistically handle in a month, for example 10 enquiries.
  3. Estimate clicks. Divide the lead goal by a cautious conversion rate. If you have no data, assume a low rate and update it later.
  4. Price the clicks. Multiply by the cost per click from Keyword Planner for your main keywords.
  5. Convert to a daily budget. Divide the monthly figure by 30.4 and remember that a single day can run up to twice that.
  6. Track every lead. Set up call and form tracking before launch so each enquiry is counted.
  7. Review after real data arrives. Judge results after enough clicks to see a pattern, not after a few days.

Google Ads Budget Mistakes to Avoid

  • Starting with a budget and no lead goal. A random number tells you nothing about whether it can work.
  • Sending clicks to the homepage. A page built around one service converts better than a general one.
  • Skipping tracking. Without it you pay for clicks and cannot tell which ones produced work.
  • Targeting too wide. A cafe in Port Credit rarely needs clicks from across the province.
  • Ignoring the phone. Slow replies waste money you already spent on the click.
  • Changing everything every week. Frequent changes make it hard to learn what is working.

Is Google Ads Right for You Right Now?

Paid search works best when people already search for what you sell, your site can turn a visit into an enquiry and you can answer quickly. If your Maps listing is incomplete, start with our Google Business Profile checklist, because many local searches in areas such as Square One, Streetsville and Cooksville start there. If you are weighing paid against organic, our guide to SEO cost in Mississauga shows the other side of the budget. A slow or unclear website will also waste ad clicks, so see what a website costs in Mississauga if yours needs work.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I pay if nobody clicks my Google ad?

With cost-per-click bidding you pay only when someone clicks your ad and reaches your site, according to Google. An impression on its own is not billed under that model.

Can Google spend more than my daily budget?

On a single day, yes, up to 2 times your average daily budget. Over the month you are not charged more than your daily budget multiplied by 30.4, and Google applies an overdelivery credit if spend goes past that.

How accurate is the Keyword Planner cost estimate?

It gives approximations averaged from a week of data, and Google says it can be less accurate for small geographic areas. Use it for a starting range, then rely on your own account results.

Is the agency fee part of my ad spend?

No. Ad spend is what Google bills your Google Ads account for clicks. Any agency or freelancer fee is separate, so ask for both amounts in writing.

How long before I know if Google Ads works for my business?

There is no fixed timeline. Judge results after enough clicks and tracked leads to see a pattern, and compare your cost per lead with what a customer is worth to you.
